Nephi

Nephi is the name of several people, places, and books associated with the Book of Mormon.

People

(Numbered according to the index to the LDS edition of the Book of Mormon):

• Nephi (Son of Lehi); prophet and founder of the Nephites.
• Nephi², son of Helaman; a Nephite missionary.
• Nephi³, son of Nephi²; one of the 12 Nephite disciples of Christ.
• Nephi⁴, son of Nephi³; namesake of the Fourth Book of Nephi and author of its first 18 verses.
• any of various Nephite kings who used "Nephi" as a name-title analogous to the way Roman Emperors used "Caesar" (see Template:Sourcetext).
• according to some accounts, the name of an angel (more usually identified as Moroni) who appeared to Joseph Smith, Jr.

• the Land of Nephi in the Book of Mormon named after Nephi¹. It was sometimes also called the Land of Lehi-Nephi. Template:Sourcetext
• the City of Nephi, the most prominent city in the Land of Nephi.

• the Third Nephi, the eleventh book of the Book of Mormon, written by Nephi³.
• the Fourth Nephi, the twelfth book of the Book of Mormon, written by Nephi⁴ and his descendants.
• the Small Plates of Nephi, a book made of metal plates begun by Nephi¹ and continued by several other authors, from which the first six books of the Book of Mormon were translated
• the Large Plates of Nephi, a book made of metal plates begun by Nephi¹ and continued by several other authors, of which most of the Book of Mormon is an abridgment and translation.
